Shift Happens: Globalization in the Information Age
Join us for a special Fort Worth Sister Cities GAP 'Focus on Africa.'
As a child in 1991, Amos was driven from his village in Southern Sudan at gunpoint and fled into the jungle with thousands of other boys. For 10 years he wandered through refugee camps, battlefields, and hostile enemy territory, sometimes without food and water, looking for his family.
Amos is one of the 4,000 Lost Boys chosen to come to the USA to pursue their dream of education. His story will touch you, move you, and inspire you.
We'll also have our Swaziland delegation, fresh from their trip to Mbabane, to give us an overview of their successes and future plans (and trips.....there may be some World Cup opportunities for us in 2010!)
Taylor Breen, our first Yamagata Scholarship Recipient, will also share her recent experience abroad. You won't want to miss this!

First of all, visit each of the various Sister Cities pages: Reggio Emilia, Italy; Trier, Germany;Nagaoka, Japan; Budapest, Hungary; Bandung, Indonesia; Toluca, Mexico; Mbabane, Swaziland. There you will find a concise detail of what each sister city group is up to for the month. You have the ultimate freedom as a member. You can choose to visit and participate in any sister city group that grabs your attention. Some members are involved with all of the sister city groups. If you don’t know where to begin, visit all of the meetings to get acquainted. Secondly, in addition to sister city groups, we have two special interest groups: Filmies and Foodies. If you are interested in international food, wine or films, we have what you want. Plus, in addition to all of this, please join us for quarterly membership meetings programmed to feature a wide array of relevant topics. See the Protocol Primer story here for details on the next meeting.
Communications will come often. Every Friday you will be emailed an electronic newsletter called the Weekly Minder. This is your source for up-to-date meeting times and locations and will remind you of upcoming events. If you are not receiving it now, please sign up on the home page of our website, which is located at www.fwsistercities.org. Monthly, you will receive Highlights. It will inform you of what is happening every month. Every quarter, you will receive Connections, our quarterly newsletter. It will update you as to what is happening on a broader scale at Sister Cities. In addition to these informative newsletters, you will also get invitations to events, the annual report and notifications about upcoming exchanges and programs. If at any time you stop getting information, please contact Felecia at 817.392.2650. Enjoy your membership in Fort Worth Sister Cities. We look forward to seeing you soon.
